Educating the whole girl
Enriched learning occurs through the careful development of programs that are designed to enhance every student’s academic experience. This involves challenging students within a supportive environment, asking them to look at concepts and situations in greater depth and from various perspectives, and developing students’ thinking dispositions.
We understand that when students experience challenge and are encouraged to make their thinking visible, this leads to increased motivation and enjoyment. A culture of visible thinking teaches students that their ideas are valued and valuable.
At The Glennie School, we believe that the intentional expansion of students’ skills and experiences needs to happen both in and out of the classroom, and over time. Enrichment occurs within our curricular and co-curricular activities and programs.
Our teachers use their expertise to enrich every day learning by developing engaging lessons that make connections between subject matter and the real world. They encourage students to dig deeper into content, investigate a greater breadth of information and apply skills in unfamiliar contexts. We use formative and summative data to gauge how each student is learning and to identify where opportunities exist to expand their thinking or even take them beyond the scope of a program. Teachers share information about students known to require further challenge so that a coordinated cross-curricular approach to enrichment can occur

Learning in the Junior Years
Learning in Junior Years
The Glennie Junior school is a place of wonder and excitement where young minds are eager to explore and learn, discover exciting things and develop new friendships.
Our classrooms are vibrant and engaging learning environments that encourage an inquisitive nature, allowing our students to thrive academically while exploring their passions beyond the classroom.
Everything we do at Glennie is designed to be girl-friendly. We know that girls generally learn by talking-thinking-doing. They like to discuss issues in small groups and unpack information before applying their knowledge.
Our consistent lesson template allows girls to talk-think-do. This means that every girl is given the opportunity to reach her full potential and be successful.
Our unique teaching and learning framework ensures that all girls have the opportunity to flourish.
The Glennie program is tailored to each educational stage and builds resilient and independent learners with a strong work ethic and critical skills in decision making, leadership and teamwork.
Glennie Junior Girls are challenged daily through consistent and intentional strategies that expose them to next level content; instilling a natural curiosity and promoting problem solving.
As a result, our teaching model has a foundational focus in developing the critical core elements of literacy and numeracy. These fundamental elements are essential in providing Glennie Girls with the skills and confidence needed to make authentic and meaningful connections.
Learning in the Senior Years
Learning in Senior Years
The transition from childhood to young adulthood presents many challenges to girls. It not only involves changes physically but presents situations that can be emotionally and spiritually challenging. As girls’ bodies change, so do their minds.
Teenagers begin to learn, interact socially and think about situations from a different perspective. They need to navigate their world differently. A Years 7 to 10 program that explicitly teaches skills to provide teenage girls with the tools to interact successfully, grow in confidence and take educational risks so that they can reach their potential, will make the journey smoother.
Our progressive and innovative program encourages girls to explore their individuality and the world they live in while advancing their skills and learning. This is achieved through a rigorous, engaging and meaningful curriculum that provides an ideal preparation for senior studies and later life.
The Glennie School Years 7 to 10 Program follows the Australian Curriculum and holds traditional values in high esteem. As our culture is founded on the Anglican ethos and traditions, it aims to nurture the spiritual life of our students. It strives to challenge the mind, encouraging all girls to to achieve their best and learn skills that will support their learning in the Senior Years and beyond.
